Pink Hair Don’t Care

Reading time 2 minutes

“Why did you dye your hair pink?”
“Why not?!”

I dyed my hair pink for one reason.  I wanted to. I knew that I would like it but I honestly had no idea how much I would LOVE it!  It’s fun.  I am living my life.  I am alive and free.

There are a ton of reasons to love pink hair but I’d rather address another thing I have discovered in my newfound state of being.

Humanity is so quick to judge a book by its cover.  I had experienced this in so many ways throughout my life but nothing shocked me, into how drastic “book cover” judgment can be, until I decided to go pink.

I then reflected on my own judgments against humanity based solely on outward appearance and my heart broke.  How quickly I have sentenced another human being without even reading the first page of their book. I want to change that.

So this is my hearts cry for myself and for my readers.  Let’s aim to stop judging books on their covers and lets slow down our lives long enough to read some people’s introduction, chapter ones, or even maybe their whole book cover to cover.  My point.  It is very hard to judge someone you have taken the time to know.  And if you know a person and you know Jesus it is really, really, hard if not impossible to love them.  So let’s take the time.  Let’s see people for who they truly are.  Let’s love and not judge.

“Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.” – James 3:17-18 MSG

And for crying out loud people… it’s pink… it’s for fun… and its temporary.  Because a girl can only wash her hair in cold water for so long. Pink requires cold water folks.  I’m not about that life for the rest of my life.

And lastly I will leave you with this.  Go do something you have never done before and do it just because you want to.  Go live.  Go and be alive.
